Set in glorious Fife countryside, Birkhill Castle is the family home of the Earl and Countess of Dundee and their family. Guests will very quickly feel at home in the friendly atmosphere. Located on the shores of the river Tay a short distance from St Andrews, the castle offers a wide range of facilities for corporate and private groups alike. The castle is also a most romantic venue for weddings

Birkhill Castle was built in 1780, and the house is surrounded by beautiful gardens and guests can wander through these and see a number of rare trees and plants. Birkhill is primarily a family home and offers a warm welcome to all that cross its front door. Although we focus on private and corporate groups our accommodation is also available on a bed and breakfast basis and we can also provide private dining for non-resident groups (both strictly by prior arrangement).

Birkhill has 10 double bedrooms and bathrooms, each decorated in keeping with the comfortable grandeur of the castle. Two of the double rooms have 4-poster beds and large "dressing rooms" with additional single beds. All have bathrooms. In addition there are two single rooms. We are able to accommodate a maximum of 24 people. Guests are free to relax in the drawing room and library which has an extensive collection of books.

For the most romantic day of your life, Birkhill is the ideal venue for a relaxed, romantic wedding. The traditional aspects of the castle provide an ideal backdrop for a more formal ceremony and reception Other guests prefer the informality of the garden, marrying in the tranquility of the rose garden and celebrating in a marquee. You can choose a simple buffet or grand banquet, a luncheon or evening dinner - all up to you. Our new ceilidh hall can seat up to 80 and accommodate (energetic) dancing for up to 120.

Birkhill is the ideal place to relax with friends, enjoy a celebration or family re-union. Groups of up to 24 people can be accommodated with the option of exclusivity available for parties of 8 upwards. A wide range of activities are available both on the estate and in the local area and we are always happy to accommodate golf, shooting or fishing parties.

For the less active Birkhill has extensive private gardens and a wide range of facilities including a private beach.
