The Castle Hertelendy has turned out to be an exclusive homage to the golden days of the Hungarian aristocracy. It was built in 1920 by Andor Hertelendy and nowadays it is owned by a Swiss investor. It combines cosy atmosphere with exquisite elegance and is a real inside tip for those who are seeking for rest and relaxation as well as nature lovers, gourmands, romantics, hunters, golfers, horse lovers – but above all for connoisseurs with taste who appreciates the good things of life.
The castle Hertelendy is situated in South-West-Hungary, in an idyllic expanse of Somogy County, surrounded by 300 hectors of land in the heart of Europe’s best hunting grounds. The nearest international airports are: Graz, Budapest, Vienna (transfer can be arranged by the hotel).
The castle and the hunter lodge offer 20 rooms in total, a gourmet restaurant (40 seats), a wellness centre with indoor and outdoor facilities and own thermal spring, a driving range/putting green, a splendid horse stable wit 14 Freiberger horses, a lot of leisure possibilities such a horse riding, olympic skeet shooting, golf, hunting, biking, hiking, tennis, cooking classes, wine tastings, hot air balloon trip, a private runway (transfer with private airplane for up to 12 people possible) and a helicopter landing pad.
Luxury Accommodation
The luxury accommodation is provided in 2 buildings: The Castle with 14 exclusive rooms and suites and the Hunter’s Lodge with 6 elegant apartments. In the castle there are 6 superior double rooms, 4 junior suites, 2 junior suites deluxe, 1 Honeymoon suite and the Hertelendy suite. The Hunter’s lodge offers 4 apartments and 2 apartments deluxe.
The comfortable and elegant rooms, overlooking the virgin landscape and/or the castle garden, are decorated in a classical style with dark parquet flooring and hand-made Italian furniture.
The 300ha area offers space for outdoor and activities, workshops and is the perfect scenery for your dream wedding. The castle Hertelendy is the perfect place for strategic conferences and Top Management events in a luxurious and discrete surrounding. Security is guaranteed. Furthermore it is ideal for eventful incentives, team building activities, workshops for small groups and coachings. It is possible to book the entire castle for exclusive events.
There is a daylight conference room with the most up-to-date technology, a roof terrace which can be used for cocktails and a exclusive party tent for up to 200 persons in the garden (e. g. for weddings).

Richard Nussel has been leading the kitchen of the first Hungarian member of Relais & Châteaux since the beginning of this year. He has accumulated his experience over 20 professional years in the most outstanding establishments of gastronomy, a lot of Michelin star restaurants included. Among others, he worked in the Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux member, Schwarzwaldstube restaurant in Baiersbronn which has been awarded three Michelin stars, also another Relais & Châteaux member, the Longueville Manor hotel in Jersey.
